Analog TV Converters and You!

Stay with me on this one because this does apply to you daytrippers. For those of you that might use an analog television set in your cars or even at home, (meaning you need an antenna to tune in regular tv), your days are numbered. That is to say that analog broadcasting will be going away forever after this year. Why do you need a converter, where according to the government website: At midnight on February 17, 2009, all full-power television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to 100% digital broadcasting. Digital broadcasting promises to provide a clearer picture and more programming options and will free up airwaves for use by emergency responders. You will need either a new TV that can received digital signals or else to purchase a converter for your analog TV set. Well the government is issuing up to two $40 coupons to a limited number of households. Get you coupons at this direct link https://www.dtv2009.gov/ApplyCoupon.aspx The site appears to crash frequently since it just went live on January 1st. Coupons will be mailed at the end of February or March. They did put a cap on the number of coupons issued, so you had better sign up quick.
