National Train Day@ Los Angeles Union Station
Did you know that Saturday May 9th is National Train Day? If your family loves trains you will definitely love Los Angeles Union Station's Train Day Event. There will be face painting, live entertainment, a dance party for the kiddos, giveaways, and of course trains, trains and trains. The kiddos will be able to learn all about how train function from the Amtrak employees and engineers.
There will be train exhibits and of course the opportunity to see real functioning trains in action!! I just so happen to be in the area earlier in the morning and can't wait to take my kids. This is going to be great. We will probably make a day of it by heading over to Olvera street for some taquitos. Sounds like the perfect day and best of all it's free!!!!!!

Day out With Thomas the Tank and Friends
Do you have train enthusiasts in your family? Are your kiddos fans of Thomas the Train and Friends? If you love trains this is a must attend event.
Day Out with Thomas is an exciting way for children and grown-ups to enter the world of Thomas & Friends. The event provides an opportunity for kids to ride on board a train led by Thomas and have their pictures taken with Sir Topham Hatt, the Controller of Thomas' Railway.
Your kiddos will enjoy a 25 minute train ride along with storytelling, face painting, live music and building with Lego Duplo Bricks.
We are in luck because there will be only two stops in the Southern California area. There is a stop in April in Fillmore and one in August in Perris.
Day out with Thomas will be at Fillmore and Western Railway Company on April 17-19 and April 24-26.
Tickets are $18 (No charge for children under 24 months that sit on lap.). It is strongly recommended that you order your tickets online ahead of time since this is a VERY popular event. For additional information click here. Thanks to reader Cristin for the tip!!Wednesday, February 18, 2009
Irvine Park Railroad Celebration
The Irvine Park Railroad will be celebrating it's 13th year anniversary by rolling back it's prices to 1996. The railroad will be offering $2.00 train rides,$2 bounce house tickets, $2 face painting and snacks. We had the opportunity to attend last year and had a great time. The kiddos also loved the the free balloons and balloon animals. It can get a little busy so make sure to get there as early as possible or towards the end of the day.
Park entry fee is $5.00 per vehicle.
We always make it a day by packing a picnic and taking a stroll through the OC Zoo.

Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch
Irvine Park Railroad’s 3rd annual pumpkin patch is fun for the entire family! Children and adults are invited to the pumpkin patch which opens daily at 10:00 am through November 2nd. This place is fun the rest of the year, but around Halloween is my children's favorite time.
This year’s pumpkin patch activities include: Train rides, hay rides, a haunted house, a hay maze, pony rides, a moon bounce, face painting (weekends only), picture stands, great food and of course, The Orange County Zoo.
Best of all there’s the pumpkin patch located in Locomotive Loop just behind the train station. Thousands of pumpkins, in all shapes and sizes, fill Locomotive Loop.
Admission into the pumpkin patch is free. Prices for all other activities vary. Visit http://www.irvineparkrailroad.com/ for additional information and costs.
Children ages 12 and under can wear their Halloween costume to Irvine Park Railroad on Saturday, October 25th. Every child that wears a costume on that day will receive a free goodie bag filled with Irvine Park Railroad giveaways.
The Irvine Park Railroad pumpkin patch is open daily from September 20th through November 2nd. Hours of operation are as follows:
Weekdays 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Weekends 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
The parking fee for Irvine Regional Park is $3.00 per vehicle on weekdays and $5.00 per vehicle on weekends.
